★ A Brief History ★
The vision of Frank and Sylvia Pasquerilla came to fruition in 1981 with the completion of Pasquerilla East Hall and its next door neighbor, Pasquerilla West. Since then, PE has been a home to nearly 250 of the brightest, boldest, and most incredible students at the University of Notre Dame each year. The people of PE know how to live in style - our gorgeous dorm holds a number of singles, doubles, quads, and a quint, complete with air conditioning, an elevator, a beautiful chapel, study rooms, lounges, a kitchen, and more! Overall, PE makes it easy for Pyros to live an active social and spiritual life that truly lights our hearts on fire.
In the 1980s, the dorm's original mascot was the Pink Elephants to match the hall initials, but the name was later changed to the Pyros to claim the title of "hottest dorm on campus."
PE is the mirror image of its sister dorm, Pasquerilla West, as the original plans called for the two L-shaped dorms to be connected by a shared chapel. When that plan was dropped, a common space in PE was converted to Saint Catherine of Siena Chapel, which was beautifully renovated in 2009. To prevent confusion among U.S. Postal Service employees, as well as to further its relationship to PW, PE's four floors are numbered five through eight... this will serve to your benefit when you complain about having to go all the way up to the EIGHTH floor.
Since the University has a three year live-on requirement, we want to make sure you love the place you live. Our hall is a close-knit community that hosts tons of events, masses, service opportunities, and more. To learn more about what we do to make PE our home under the dome, visit some of the links under the Hall Council page!
In 2012-13 Pasquerilla East Hall was selected as Women's Hall of the Year by the Hall Presidents Council, and in 2015-16, it was selected as the Hall of the Year! Let's do it again this year!
