Junior | Section 7B
hometown: Virden, Illinois
major: Computer Science
favorite things about PE:
the PEople, Mod Quad location, 6th floor elounge, family room
message for new pyros:
Try things you normally wouldn’t; you might be surprised what you end up liking to do on campus! You have the freedom to try all sorts of clubs and activities without completely committing yourself right away. While you’re at it, you’ll be meeting many different people on campus who may become some of your closest friends. But always remember that your fellow pyros are just a knock away!

minor: Classical Studies: Civilizations
favorite things about PE:
I love late nights in the elounge with fellow pyros, movie nights in the family room, and our location on campus...not too quiet, not too noisy, a gorgeous quad, and PERFECT walking distance from the dining hall.
message for new pyros:
Being nervous and homesick the first few weeks is a universal experience for incoming freshmen (and many upperclassmen too!!) Don't be afraid to reach out -- ask questions, seek advice wherever you may need it, and try new things whenever possible.

favorite things about PE:
dorm room game nights, the PEople, & 6th floor elounge shenanigans!
message for new pyros:
Be brave, be bold, be beYOUtiful! Moving in can be filled with excitement, anxiety, big feels, and so many new experiences; embrace it all! Remember that everyone in PE is on your side, remember to drink lots of water, to try new things, and that sometimes taking that first step with a smile is all it takes to begin a new friendship. So, ask that goofy question, get up early to watch the sunrise outside the lounge or over the lakes, ask people to go on walks, ask people to go get coffee, and remember that no pyro is ever left behind and that we're 100% your biggest cheerleaders.

favorite things about PE:
The best thing is by far the 7th floor elounge. You can sit and end up talking for hours. I also love the section events and the family room!
message for new pyros:
One tip is to reach out to upperclassmen; everyone in PE wants to be your friend! Something else I would also say is to live intentionally. After someone said this to me, I had a completely new outlook on my first year at ND! And remember, that freshman year is hard for everyone, so you are DEFINITELY not alone even if it may feel that way!

I made some of my closest PE pals by just saying hello or giving a compliment which led to an awesome friendship. If you’re open to meeting new people, you will definitely get to know other incredible pyros!
