★ It's Mail Time! ★
PE has mail clerks that separate all the mail that gets delivered to us each day. Envelopes and small packages are put in your mailbox, and large packages are delivered to your room!
Every room in PE has it's own mailbox, so you share a box with your roommates. These are located right next to the front desk in the PE lobby. |
Your mailing address format is:
[Your Name]
500 Pasquerilla East Hall Room [Room Number] Notre Dame, IN 46556-5621 If you have a package that doesn't fit in your mailbox, our hall clerks will deliver them during the scheduled mail/package hours. Sometimes packages are too big to be delivered to PE, or need extra postage. In that case, you can head over to ND's very own Post Office, which is only a short walk from PE. The Post Office shares a building with the police station, called Hammes Mowbray Hall. Here's a map to show you where it is! |
Sending a package?
You can ship it from the campus post office, FedEx in LaFortune Student Center, or a UPS drop box (LaFortune, Grace Hall, McKenna Hall, Mendoza, Hesburgh, or the Mail Distribution Center). It is also possible to schedule pick-ups with the latter two carriers via phone.
Sending mail?
Just drop it in the "Outgoing Mail" box next to the front desk. Pro Tip: If you are sending mail to another address on campus, you don't need a stamp!
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I send my textbooks to my campus address before I move in?
You may! All mail addressed to residents who live in PE during the regular school year is held at ND's Post Office until the week before classes start. Then we get a deluge of mail, and our mail clerks sort all the packages (usually putting the overflow into the dining room) so that people can pick it up when they arrive. If you send a package early, it should find you here!
What happens to my mail over the summer and over winter break?
The Post Office holds all personal mail (not including magazines and catalogs) until the start of the term, unless you leave a forwarding address (recommended if you have an important document or package that you need to get your hands on). If you discover that something is en route to your PE address and you desperately need it, it's best to call the PO and work out forwarding details with them.
Can hall staff intercept my package/letter and forward it to me over the summer or winter break?
Nope, sorry! For one thing, hall staff members are not in PE over summer or winter breaks (the hall is completely closed in winter, and in summer an entirely different, temporary summer staff takes over). For another thing, your mail won't be coming here, it will be held in the Post Office (see above). So the best place to call is the ND Post Office.
I can't find my package, and the tracking number says it's been delivered. Where is it?
The first thing to check when this situation occurs is your mailbox! Since most packages will be delivered to your door, it's easy to forget that the small ones are delivered to our mailboxes. If it's not there, give it a couple days... often the tracker says something is "delivered" when it reaches the Notre Dame Post Office, NOT when it actually arrives in the hall. If it's been several days and you still don't have your package, there's a chance that it might have gone to Pasquerilla Center or Pasquerilla West by mistake (that's the problem with having so many Pasquerilla buildings on campus), which means it could take a little longer to make its way over here. If you think this may be the case, you can try emailing the Pasquerilla West Rector. Additionally, calling the Notre Dame Post Office is always a good idea. If all else fails and your package really seems gone for good, you can file a report with NDSP at 574-631-5555.
